Amrik Singh Powar Elected General Secretary during the Executive Board meeting of Hockey Punjab

Jalandhar July 1 (MP) Hockey Punjab Executive Board meeting held at Cambridge International School Chhotti Baradari in Jalandhar under the chairmanship of Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli. During this meeting, the resignation of General Secretary of Hockey Punjab, Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander, accepted by the executive board and  unanimously approved the name of former international hockey player and retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amrik Singh Powar as New General Secretary of Hockey Punjab for the tenure of  2023 to 2026.  Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander said that he is currently holding a high position in the Punjab Police, so due to departmental work, he cannot give full time to Hockey Punjab, that is why he has resigned, but for the development of hockey in Punjab, he will do anything. On this occasion, the name of Amrik Singh Powar was presented by Hockey Punjab President Nitin Kohli and all the members agreed with it. Apart from this, the Executive Board decided that hockey units of 23 districts related to Hockey Punjab will conduct district hockey championships in August and September 2023 and Hockey Punjab will conduct Punjab State Hockey Championships in October and November 2023 in various districts of Punjab. On this occasion, the newly appointed general secretary of Hockey Punjab Amrik Singh Powar said that he will work for the betterment of hockey in Punjab in coordination with all the district units and will be dedicated to hockey full time. On this occasion Padma Shri Pargat Singh, Head of Advisory Committee of Hockey Punjab was also specially present.
